Embrace Green Living With PlantLady Timmins
My Story

Born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, I’ve always had a deep-rooted love for plants. My passion began at a young age, inspired by my parents who kept tropical plants indoors and cultivated vegetable gardens during the summer months.

In 2006, after moving into our first home, I eagerly began growing my own vegetables and herbs. Success didn’t always come easily, but each attempt taught me something new.
My journey truly took off in 2014 when I designed and helped build my first 8'x12' greenhouse—officially earning my "crazy plant lady" badge!

From there, my curiosity and dedication deepened. I began experimenting with different crops, learning what thrived in our climate and what our family enjoyed eating. Through trial and error, I fine-tuned my gardening practices, always aiming to improve.

A move in 2019 brought new challenges and opportunities. I uprooted many of my cherished perennials and started fresh, setting up a larger 12'x20' greenhouse and installing raised beds. I expanded into container gardening, in-ground plots, and various other garden styles—transforming our yard into a true sanctuary.

Then in 2021, after struggling with severe vertigo, recurrent sinus infections, and an incomplete diagnosis that led to being bedridden for a month, I was prescribed pharmaceuticals and diagnosed with anxiety disorder. Determined to pursue a more natural path to healing, I turned to herbal medicine—something I had always been drawn to.

What began as a spark quickly became a full flame. I dove into herbal research, purchased books, took short online courses, and began making my own herbal products.
In 2022, I created my PlantLady Timmins Facebook page to bring people on my learning journey to inspire and teach. I also joined both local horticultural societies and started competing in gardening competitions—placing first in the mixed garden category three years in a row (2022–2024) and earning top placements in the vegetable garden category each year.

In January 2024, I took the next step and enrolled at the Wild Rose College of Herbal Medicine, a school recognized by the Ontario Herbalists Association. I’m currently pursuing a three-year Practical Herbalist diploma, which includes 11 intensive courses complete with lessons, tests, exams, and final projects. As of now, I’ve completed 9 of the required courses with a 95% average and officially became a member of the Ontario Herbalists Association in 2025.

I’m now 85% through the program and eagerly looking ahead to enrolling in the Master Herbalism and Clinical Herbalist programs. My ultimate goal is to become a Registered Herbalist with the Ontario Herbalists Association and continue growing and sharing the healing power of plants with others.
